Welcome to Le Moulin Verneau

Julie & Simon purchased Le Moulin Verneau in January 2017 having spent 6 months searching for the right property for their eventual retirement in France. Initially purchased as a holiday home from another English couple who had owned the property for more than 20 years. Simon’s Mum, Carol joined them and was delighted to start a new adventure. 

The property consists of the main house, which is home for Simon and Julie and their two dogs; A cottage, which is home for Carol; Two self-catering gites which had been a thriving holiday business for the previous owners. 

Initially Julie & Carol travelled back and forth between the UK and France, but each stay in France got longer and stays in UK shorter, until finally they now call France home, and travel back for short visits to see family and friends. Simon still works in the UK but commutes every other weekend for four days in France.

They have decided to offer the gites as holiday accommodation again. Running a large property in France is a  considerable undertaking so having some visitors in the gites makes perfect sense to assist with the bills but also to share the blessings of life in France.

Julie & Simon discovered the area whilst holidaying in France and fell in love with the rural views, the pace of life and of course the food and wine the region has to offer. They hope to encourage other like-minded folk to come and experience a very special brand of peace and relaxation in the Loire Valley.

In preparation for welcoming paying guests there have been a number of changes. The main project has been a total revamp of the pool and surrounding terrace.  Both of the gite garden areas have been tidied up and the furniture refreshed. 

Julie & Simon have decided to market Le Moulin Verneau as an adults only destination.  Therefore we will not accept bookings for under 16s.

Of course, there are always exceptions to a rule,  particularly for family and friends.  These occasional bookings will not be combined with other guests so you can be assured that your stay will not be disturbed by little ones being little ones!

If you have children we can recommend accommodation nearby who do not have age restrictions.

Le Moulin Verneau is also home to Martha & Pippa.  They are both friendly happy dogs, if a little prone to protecting the property from every person, bird or car with much enthusiasm. They have free reign around the whole property and although not to be encouraged inside your accommodation they may sneak in to check you haven't brought a cat with you!   

If dogs being around would bother you, then it might be better to choose another place to stay.
